JEANNE CORDOVA: BUTCHES, LIES & FEMINISM

  • NORTHWEST FILM FORUM 1515 12th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

Gregorio Davila; 2017; USA; 39 min.

Ex-nun,  journalist,  author,  outspoken activist,  community organizer,  civil rights advocate, legendary butch feminist: all of those titles would describe Jeanne Cordova,  but she liked to call herself a “professional lesbian.” This loving and dynamic film showcases a true pioneer of the West Coast LGBTQ movement. It’s a tribute to Cordova’s monumental accomplishments, from her days creating the Lesbian Tide to her never-ending fight for fairness, justice, and equality for lesbians, all women, and the queer community. Best Documentary Short winner at Outfest 2017.
