Rebekah Fortune; 2017; UK; 100 min.
Soccer star Charlie can’t hide frequent visits to a secret stash of dresses in the forest anymore, even if it means risking the chance to go pro. Though friends and family are shocked, luckily Mom is there to help Charlie navigate the complications of gender-segregated high school sports. Director Rebekah Fortune brings us an impressive first feature that originated from her short film SOMETHING BLUE, which we remember fondly from Translations 2012. Beautifully shot and intentionally crafted, JUST CHARLIE is a reminder to cherish the weird and delicate.
